Nordmann fir JIFFY® 15-25 cm - 3 years old - Ø 42
We will be happy to provide you with a freight-optimised offer on request.Origin: Jiffy is a cultivation system that originates from Canada and was designed for growing young plants. The root ball is made of peat, the pH of which is adjusted to the pH required by Nordmann firs. A net that is permeable to the roots holds the peat together. The seeds are placed in a small depression in the jiffy, which resembles a flat disc when dry. Only when the peat comes into contact with water does it swell into the finished jiffy pot and the seed germinates. After about 14 days, the roots start to grow through the net. The tips that grow out of the net dry out but thereby stimulate root growth inside the jiffy. New fine roots appear. This process is repeated and is called air pruning. The roots that grow very symmetrically in this way are the key to a successful culture. After about 3 weeks, start fertilising carefully. The plants stand in special air boxes until they are planted out, which keep the jiffies at a distance. This is how air pruning of the roots occurs in the first place. In addition, this way the plants have the right distance from each other so that they can develop optimally. The plants remain in the greenhouse for about a year before they are brought outside in May/June for the rest of the cultivation period, where they can harden off. Then, from August (depending on the weather), they are planted in their final place in the Christmas tree farm. August planting has the advantage that due to the high activity of the roots during this time, the plants grow without problems. But even with early spring planting, the plants are less at risk from drought due to the rapid growth. Planting can be done either mechanically or with a specially developed planting tube.

water storage granulate 16 kg paper bag
Biological water and nutrient reservoir for plants - no watering for up to 4 weeks!PLANTSITTER® granules work like a sponge, absorbing water and nutrients and releasing them to the plant roots during dry periods. You save up to 60% water and a lot of watering effort. Dry periods of up to 4 weeks can be bridged with PLANTSITTER® granules. It retains its storage capacity for up to 5 years, making it possible to bridge several dry periods. You can reliably protect your plants from drought stress and waterlogging for a long time.Application in forestryOption 1: Mixing the granules with waterMix 5% PLANTSITTER® granules with 95% water. Dip the plant roots into the mixture so that they are well moistened. Place the plant with the treated roots in the prepared soil. The roots can absorb the stored water directly from the first day. This option is preferred when planting new plants, as it uses the least amount of granules and the granules are already available directly at the plant root.Option 2: Direct application in the planting holeDig a planting hole of the desired size for your plant. Pour a sufficient amount of PLANTSITTER® granules into the planting hole and place the plant root directly on the granules and then seal with soil.Option 3: Mix the granules with water and pour into the planting holeMix 5% PLANTSITTER® granules with 95% water. Pour the mixture into the prepared planting hole. The amount required may vary depending on the type of plant. Place the plant in the planting hole with the mixture and then seal with soil.Application in agricultureHere too, all three options are possible from above + application during soil inversion.  In addition, there is the issue of fertilisation in agriculture. Here is our recommendation: Spread the PLANTSITTER® granules evenly over the soil surface and work them into the soil by turning it over. Fertilise in conjunction with planting with 30% of the seasonal fertiliser requirement. Due to the storage capacity of the granules and the longer watering intervals, the fertiliser is no longer washed out so quickly and is available to the plants for longer.
